Tirana, May 2025 — Albania has introduced changes to its work visa regulations, simplifying the process for foreign nationals seeking employment opportunities in the country. The new rules are designed to address labor shortages and attract skilled workers to key sectors of the economy.
Under the updated framework, foreign workers can now apply for a work visa up to 90 days before their planned arrival in Albania, streamlining the application timeline and reducing delays. The process also allows applicants to submit documentation online through a centralized digital platform, eliminating the need for in-person visits to consulates or embassies in many cases.
Authorities have reduced several bureaucratic steps, including requirements for legalized documents and translations in certain application categories. The reforms aim to make Albania a more competitive destination for foreign talent, particularly in construction, tourism, hospitality, and technology.
Government officials noted that the changes are part of broader efforts to modernize Albania’s migration policy and support economic growth by facilitating the entry of qualified workers.
Employers in Albania are expected to benefit from faster hiring processes, while foreign professionals will have greater clarity and predictability when applying for permits.
The updated rules apply to both short-term and long-term work visas and are effective immediately.
