Tirana, January 2025 — Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Albania will gain access to new financial support as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Union (EU) announced a €5 million financing package aimed at strengthening local businesses.
The funding, provided through Union Bank, will support projects focused on digital transformation, environmental sustainability, and youth entrepreneurship. The initiative is part of the EBRD’s broader effort to promote innovation and competitiveness among SMEs in Albania.
Under the program, eligible businesses can benefit from financial incentives, including grants covering up to 10% of their investment costs for digital upgrades. Additional support is offered to young entrepreneurs through reduced lending risk and tailored financing solutions.
“The collaboration with the EU reinforces our commitment to empowering Albanian businesses and fostering economic growth,” said an EBRD representative.
Albania’s SME sector plays a critical role in the national economy, accounting for a significant share of employment and production. This new funding aims to enhance resilience and growth opportunities for businesses adapting to digital and environmental demands.
