Tirana, May 2025 — Albania has launched a new digital nomad visa, offering foreign remote workers the ability to live and work legally in the country for an initial period of one year, with renewals permitted for up to five years.
The visa, officially called the “Unique Permit,” is designed for non-Albanian citizens employed by foreign companies who wish to reside in Albania while continuing their work remotely. Applicants must provide proof of income, valid health insurance, and a clean criminal record to qualify.
Authorities aim to position Albania as an emerging destination for digital nomads by leveraging its low cost of living, Mediterranean climate, and growing infrastructure. The initiative is expected to attract freelancers, entrepreneurs, and remote employees seeking an affordable European base.
In recent years, Albania has experienced increased interest from international visitors, and this visa is part of broader efforts to stimulate long-term stays and foreign investment.
Applications for the Albania Digital Nomad Visa are now open, with processing handled through the country’s migration offices.
